Busia Deputy Governor Moses Mulomi on Tuesday received 98 of the117 Bill of Quantities (BQs) for various development projects.
The BQs are meant to facilitate development in the departments of; Health and Sanitation, Trade, Industry and Co-operatives, Lands, Housing and Urban Development for the Financial Year 2020/2021 under County Executive Committe Member for Infrastructure and Energy Mr Okwara Ekirapa.
The County Government of Busia will spend Sh54million in expanding Osieko-Nambo water supply to benefit more residents of Bunyala South Ward.
Busia Governor, while presiding over the Community Empowerment Programme at Siagonjo Stadium on Tuesday, said the Osieko community has submitted the budget for the planned project which he said will cover over 20km to areas like Mau Mau.
Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong has told his Executive to reflect and re-energize as they return home to embark on the journey of implementing projects in a professional way and which will benefit the people of the County.
He said that with the unlocking of the Revenue Sharing Formula by the Senate, the onus now rests on officers to implement projects on a timely basis.
Over 7,000 residents of Angurai South Ward are set to benefit from improved water supply following the installation of a 50,000 Litres elevated water storage tank at Kakapel, Teso North sub county.
The steel tank will help in storage and distribution of water pumped from Akibui borehole which currently serves 70 households.
First Ladies from the lake region counties of Busia (Judy Ojaamong), Dorothy Nyong’o (Kisumu), Priscila Oparanya (Kakamega) and Rosella Rasanga (Siaya) have vowed to fully support empowerment of the youths through value addition based agri-business projects in bid to address increasing unemployment occassioned by the drastic impacts of Coronavirus (Covid~19).
