Mechanization
The County bought 14 tractors (2 per Sub County). Similarly, 3 wards also bought tractors. The estimated cultivated area through this program is over 4,000 acres.
Status: Ongoing
Objective: Mechanization entails land prepation using tractors and other equipment. The department has 14 tractors,3 wards tarctors and one inherited from the National Government at the ATC totaling to 18 tractors offering mechanization services in the county. The department has the mechanization station based at Bumala which does servicing and repair of the tractors and offers caliberation services and tractor repairs to private farmers. The department provides mainly subsidized ploughing services to the farmers at a subsidized fee of Ksh. 2000 lower than the market rate of Ksh.3,500
Beneficiaries: Since the begining of the subsidized mechanization services, the department has been reaching about 1000 farmers with the mechanization each year in the whole county since 2014.
Jobs Created: With the tractors out in the farmer fields, there has been jobs created to the citizens including the minor tractor repairs which sometimes may not need the technical expertise of the engineers and mechanics at the AMS.
Supply of the repairs and other tractor accessories has created opportunities to entreprenuers who supply this commodities to the AMS
Revenue: For this financial year to date, the revenue generated is Ksh. 133,00 from the mechanization services. Averagely the project generates about Ksh. 1,000,000 each financial year when all the tractors are in good working conditions.
