WHEN KAMPALA FINALLY HOSTED EALASCA GAMES 2019

Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) finally hosted the East Africa Local Authorities Cultural Association (EALASCA) Games 2019, to bring to an end uncertainties that had seen the regional games fail to take off since 2016 when Kenya hosted it for the last time.

Busia County in Kenya produced an upset with Busia County Referral Hospital employee Stephen Amwai winning the individual scrabble title to steer Kenya to overall title.

Amwai had also led Busia to back to back victory during KICOSCA games in Kericho in August 2019.

Busia produced four top players in top 10; others were Eric Wamalwa in position six with +1139, Alphonce Kajenjo in position seven with +888 and Largus Amukanga in position 8 with +688 to qualify for ELASCA games.

Narok County represented Kenya in Kampala with their folksong, Nairobi in set piece, Meru in cultural dance and Bungoma in borrowed dance.

The 2020 edition of both KICOSCA and EALASCA Games were called off due to Coronavirus pandemic which has taken the entire world by storm with many reported infections and deaths.
