"Gateway to East and Central Africa"

Teso North Sub County is the first to host the initial rig flagship water drilling geared towards increasing water coverage in the region that has faced water scarcity for a long time.

Residents of Ataba Oburi in Angurai East Ward are the first to benefit from clean and safe drinking water as the area Member of County Assembly Job Oteba, Chief Officer Water and Irrigation upper Region, Hellen Mukanda, administrators and departmental core staff witnessed the rig team commence the drilling process.

Ms Mukanda said they expect the maximum drilling depth of 130m, noting that water to be extracted will benefit over 1000 people, 300 households, four villages, a school & several churches.

The new Drilling Rig sunk the first high yielding borehole estimated at 20,000 litres of water per hour at the Water Department.

The second borehole to be sunk was at Kwangamor Catholic Church in Teso South Sub County through the order of Governor Sospeter Ojaamong to help area residents who have been facing water challenges.

This was part of the testing process before it moves to 12 contributing wards with each ward set to benefit from four boreholes before none contributing wards start benefiting.

The wards which contributed to the kitty included Angurai North, Angurai South, Angurai East, Malaba South, Angorom, Chakol South, Chakol North, Nambale Township , Bukhayo Central, Bukhayo East, Amukura East and Marachi Central.
