The County Government of Busia will spend Sh54million in expanding Osieko-Nambo water supply to benefit more residents of Bunyala South Ward.

Busia Governor, while presiding over the Community Empowerment Programme at Siagonjo Stadium on Tuesday, said the Osieko community has submitted the budget for the planned project which he said will cover over 20km to areas like Mau Mau.

"My government will fast track the completion of Sidokho bridge which was delayed owing to Lake Victoria backflow that rendered it impossible to continue with the Sh47m project, " he said.

H.E Ojaamong said the county will receive an additional Sh1.1b in 2021/2022 financial year following the deal struck by Senators in the revenue sharing formula, adding that residents will benefit from increased resource allocation.

Deputy Governor Moses Mulomi appreciated the efforts made by the area Member of County Assembly Casper Ajuma for empowering the youth and women through the community empowerment program.

A total of 40 motorbikes were issued to the youths, bringing to 80 the total number issued to date. Also distributed included posho mills, motorboat engines, water pump generators, over Jikokoa, bags of sugar and bales of Wheat flour.

The Governor was accompanied by Trade Executive Judith Maketso, Chief Officer for Agriculture Eng. Richard Achiambo, County Public Service Board Member Thomas Taka and Bunyala Sub County Administrator Nelson Otando.
