COUNTY GOVERNMENT OF BUSIA TARMACS ROADS AT NAMBALE, LUKOLIS, ADUNGOSI AND KHUNYANGU MARKETS
Modernisation of Busia towns as promised by H.E Dr. Paul Nyongesa Otuoma, Busia Governor, is becoming a reality.
Governor Otuoma's Government through the Department of Transport, Roads and Public Works has tarmacked a number of roads across the county in an effort to improve the road network in markets as part of modernisation effort.
At Adungosi market in Chakol South Ward, the devolved government tarmacked a stretch of 0.78 kilometer from Adungosi Market stretching towards Adungosi Police Station road.
At Nambale Market, a Ring road covering 0.45 Kilometres was tarmacked while 0.63 kilometres of road stretching from Murumba market to Khunyangu Sub-county Hospital in Butula Subcounty was tarmacked. At Lukolis market, 0.16 kilometres of road network is tarmacked.
In a concerted effort to fulfill Governor Otuoma's Ward Based Economic Revitalisation Agenda, Eng. Cyprian Oliko, the Director of Roads, emphasized the significance of upgrading roads to bitumen standard. According to him the initiative aims at ensuring that crucial places such as markets and health facilities in the county are accessed with ease in order to improve socio-economic activities.
“Tarmacking of roads gives assurance of more than 25 years without maintenance. Inspite of durability, tarmacking of roads improves the economy and well-being of people of Busia,” said Eng. Oliko.
The activity witnessed active community involvement, with locals engaged in offering labor works, thereby accruing economic benefits.
The community lauded the Governor for fulfilling his promise, and strengthening the bond between the county government and its citizens.
