BUSIA COUNTY GOVERNMENT INAUGURATES RURAL AND URBAN AFFORDABLE HOUSING COMMITTEE

The County Government of Busia on Thursday inaugurated the County Rural and Urban Affordable Housing Committee to give a detailed briefing on the county’s expectations and their roles in advancing affordable housing initiatives.

The committee was briefed on the National Government's strategic plans which include the construction of markets, hostels, and other essential infrastructure under the Affordable Housing Program at a cost of over Ksh 300 million in Bumala, Nambale and Malaba among other places.

 

An additional 2000 houses will be constructed at Alupe University, along with the development of hostels at various institutions such as Okame TVET, Amukura TTC, and Amagoro KMTC with Angurai and Korinda markets already advertised and contractors will soon be on-site.

The committee is poised to play a critical role in ensuring the projects are executed efficiently, marking a significant step towards achieving affordable housing and improved infrastructure for the residents of Busia.

Present at the meeting was the County Secretary, CS Oscar Juma, County Executive Committee Member For Lands, Housing, and Urban Development, Peter Odima, Chief of Staff, Vincent Mutanda, Senior Director of the State Department Of Housing and Urban Development Polycap Onyango, Chief Officer for Lands and Housing, Vincent Wanjala and Director Housing Teresia Mbingi.
