The National Super Alliance co-principal Raila Odinga and the Soroti-based Iteso cultural leader Emormor Augustine are among high profile guests expected at Busia Governor-elect Sospeter Ojaamong’s inauguration at Busia County Stadium on Monday August 21st.
Busia County Secretary Nicodemus Mulaku said invitation has been extended to Raila and other co-principals including Kalonzo Musyoka, Musalia Mudavadi, Moses Wetangula and Isaac Ruto.
He said a 26-man delegation from Uganda led by Emormor are also expected for the swearing-in ceremony , adding that preparations are in top gear for the fete which is expected to start at 10am.
The CS said invitation has also been extended to his challengers in the recently concluded gubernatorial elections including Paul Otuoma, Okoch Mondoh, Francis Oyatsi, Michael Oloo, Benjamin Okwara and Engineer Dan Barasa.
Former Vice President Moody Awori is on the list of invitees that includes former cabinet ministers from the county; Philip Masinde, James Osogo, Yekoyada Masakhalia, Dr, Julia Ojiambo, Prof. Christine Mango, Oduya Oprong, A.A.A. Ekirapa, among others.
MPs-elect Oku Kaunya (Teso North), Geoffrey Omuse (Teso South), Geoffrey Odanga (Matayos), Joseph Oyula (Butula), Dr Oundo Mudenyo (Funyula), John Bunyasi (Nambale) and Raphael Wanjala (Budalangi).
Others includes, outgoing MPs, Senator-elect Amos Wako, Women Representative-elect Florence Mutua, elected and outgoing MCAs.
Ojaamong won his second term in office after beating Otuoma by 135,153 votes to 125,905 in a closely contested race that attracted a total of seven candidates. Ojaamong has promised an overhaul in his administration to improve service delivery.
