The youngest Busia Member of the County Assembly Moses Pius Ouma aka Mose Baaba has pledged radical changes aimed at benefiting the people of his ward.
Baaba aged 25 is joining the assembly as the youngest MCA compared to his predecessors. The outgoing Malaba North MCA Ichasi was the youngest MCA in 2013 at 26 years.
The owner of a mini-shop in Tangakona trading centre, Mose Baaba said his immediate task will be to lobby for the chairmanship of Agriculture committee in the assembly.
” After securing the docket, I will use it to empower farmers. I will push for bills that will ensure peasant farmers receive free seeds and fertilizer to boost their production and make Busia County food basket in the country,” he said.
The MCA-elect said he will also endeavor to promote dairy farming by availing dairy cattle per sub location so as to increase milk production in his ward.
Baaba scored an upset when he beat his closest challenger Paul Okello by 1679 votes to 1676. The three vote margin was a bitter pill to swallow for his opponent.
” I am the most happiest man in the world for making it to the assembly. I had faith I will win but not by that narrowest of margins,” he said.
Baaba also scored a first when he availed his manifesto. Part of his pledge in the document is to empower the youth economically to enable them become employers instead of relying on the elusive white collar jobs.
” I will also set aside jobs through the Ward Development Funds to empower the youth so that they can become innovative in various fields,” he said.
