Youngest Busia MCA pledges big for his Ward

The youngest  Busia Member of the County Assembly  Moses  Pius Ouma aka Mose Baaba  has pledged radical  changes aimed at benefiting the people of his ward.

Baaba aged 25  is joining the assembly as the youngest MCA  compared to his predecessors. The outgoing Malaba North MCA Ichasi  was the youngest MCA  in 2013 at 26 years.

The owner of a  mini-shop in Tangakona  trading centre, Mose Baaba  said his immediate task will be to lobby for the chairmanship of  Agriculture committee  in the assembly.

” After securing the docket, I will use it to empower farmers. I will push for bills that will ensure  peasant farmers  receive free seeds and fertilizer to boost their  production and make Busia County  food basket in the country,” he said.

The MCA-elect said he will also endeavor to  promote dairy farming by availing dairy cattle  per sub location so as to  increase  milk production in his ward.

Baaba scored an upset when he  beat his closest challenger  Paul Okello  by 1679 votes  to 1676. The three vote margin was a bitter pill to swallow  for his opponent.

” I am the most happiest man in the world  for  making it to the assembly.  I had faith I will win  but not by that narrowest of margins,” he said.

Baaba also scored a first when he availed his manifesto. Part of his pledge in the document is to  empower the youth economically to enable them  become employers instead of relying on the elusive white collar jobs.

” I will also set aside jobs through the Ward Development Funds  to empower the youth  so that they can become innovative in various fields,” he said.
